Helping families to become "Grace Places"
in an anxious world.

In 1994 the Lutheran Family Association (LFA) was formed. Its mission is "Helping families become 'Grace Places' in an anxious world." Family Connection was only one of the ministries of the LFA. It quickly became the most recognized ministry of the organization. In 1999, the Board of Directors determined that to best serve families, the LFA would begin doing business as Family Connection in all areas of its ministry.

Family Connection provides direct, personal, and immediate information, resources and spiritual support to church leaders and members facing the challenges of family life. Since the "800" (800-351-1001) response line began, over 8,000 contacts, including 6,000 calls, have been received. Many calls are from pastors providing counseling and requesting information, however, the majority are from family members concerned about the challenges of family life or just wanting someone to listen to them. This outreach ministry is proving to be a vital need for congregations and families. 

In addition to the telephone ministry, Family Connection operates a family resource center and publishes three periodicals: Family Connection, the Journal and Family Notes.
